In March 2012, the welsh cancer charity Tenovus began a two year project funded by the Burdett Trust for Nursing to provide a telephone support scheme for people recently diagnosed with cancer in Wales. The Tenovus Cancer Callback Service is programme of scheduled telephone calls from a fully qualified nurse offering support and information.
The GPU has undertaken an independent evaluation of the initiative. A qualitative approach was taken to evaluation, which involved conducting and thematically analysing structured interviews with Tenovus Cancer Callback nurses and members of the project steering group, at key stages over the duration of the service. Recently completed, the final report will be available shortly.
